ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Cusco - Sacred Valley

Day 1: Arrival in Cusco – Sacred Valley

Welcome to Cusco. Get ready to meet the South American Camelids. Enjoy the local gastronomy in an ancient Hacienda of the Sacred Valley.

A new adventure begins in the Peruvian Andes, where you will be greeted and picked up by your private tour guide at the Cusco city airport. After your warm welcome, we will start the excursion with a tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the way, we will visit a South American Camelid Interpretation Center in Cusco where we may have the opportunity to interact with the animals and learn about their importance.

We will continue on to one of the oldest Haciendas found in the Sacred Valley, where we will learn about the different stages of corn cultivated, in particular, the Giant White Corn, cultivated since ancient times. After the tour we will enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch featuring fresh and organic ingredients as well as a Marinera dance and Peruvian Paso Horse show. Finally, you will be transferred to your selected hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas while surrounded by Andean landscapes, history and hospitality.

Day 2: Sacred Valley

Discover the land of living Incas and the breathtaking Machu Picchu

To start the adventure, you will board the train of your choice at the scheduled time. On the train, you will experience incredible landscapes through spectacular panoramic windows and descend into the canyon, leading into the cloud forest and granite mountains. Once you arrive at your final stop, the town of Aguas Calientes, you will receive a bus straight to the Citadel of Machu Picchu. Before entering, you will recharge your energy with a tasty lunch included in this activity.

 

In the afternoon, we will visit Machu Picchu, a great work of Inka engineering and architecture. It is one of the most unbelievable creations of nature and humankind, both for the architectural manifestations of a cultural legacy from a civilization that is now vanished, and for the ecosystems identified with the tropical forest and their beauty and exceptional aesthetic values. At the end of the guided visit, which will allow you to spiritually connect with this sacred place, we will take the bus down to town Aguas Calientes, where we will accommodate you at your selected hotel.

Day 3: Sacred Valley - Machupicchu

Let yourself become entranced by the incomparable beauty of Machu Picchu.

Before entering Machu Picchu, recharge your energy and enjoy a delicious lunch. A few minutes after lunch, we will visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, a showplace of Inca engineering and architecture. It is one of the most amazing creations in the world – an architectural exhibition that embodies the cultural legacy of a civilization that no longer exists to the human resourcefulness and construction ability comprising a unique ecosystem that exists solely in the tropical rainforest common to Machu Picchu with natural beauty and extraordinary aesthetic value.

Once our guided visit with your private guide is completed, and you have spiritually bonded with this place, your visit will conclude with a bus ride back to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon our arrival back in town, we will accommodate you with your chosen hotel.

Day 4: Machupicchu - Cusco

Ascend One of the Major Mountains that are Next to the Machu Picchu Citadel. Head back to Cusco.

Following a healthy and nutritious breakfast, you will return to Machu Picchu and continue exploring the site with your escorted guide. You will be able to take a hike to the top of either Huayna Picchu Mountain, which is a 2-hour hike round trip, or Machu Picchu Mountain which is a 4-hour hike (a round trip) for spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Keep in mind that these tickets need to be secured a few months prior since climbing one of the mountains is very sought after. After you have concluded your excursion, we will have lunch together. In the afternoon you will again take the train back to Cusco to the Ollantaytambo station and once you arrive, a vehicle will take you to your hotel of course in Cusco.

Day 5: Cusco

Culinary Journey in the Imperial City of Cusco.

This day we will embark on an exclusive journey in the Imperial City of Cusco, situated in the middle of the Inca Empire. We will begin our visit at the San Pedro Market, the oldest food market in our city. Here we will find the variety of products found in the Andes, such as Kiwicha, Quinoa, numerous tubers, fruits, and many more. Once we delve into this place, we will move onto our cooking workshop, where we will learn to prepare the most emblematic Peruvian dishes. And yes, we will not let the famous Pisco Sour slip us — we will taste each dish and take home with us new recipes to wow our loved ones.

In the afternoon, we will sweeten our palates with our own chocolate making. Since Peru is one of the largest cacao producers in the world, we will begin our experience with the history of cacao, its production, and even creating our own chocolate bars for take home. From here, it will be back to our hotel for a good nights rest.

Day 6: Cusco

Learn the Historical Capital of the Inca Empire. Have Traditional Food in a Picanteria.

Allow yourself to be captivated by the magic that surrounds the city of Cusco, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, a place where Andean and Spanish syncretism joins with modern Peru as one. Our adventure begins with a visit to Sacsayhuaman, characterized by its huge stone blocks built without mortar, the most important one was used as a site of worship to the Sun God. We will then proceed to the Artisan and bohemian neighborhood of the city, San Blas. Walk through its cobbled streets and appreciate the perfectly preserved Inca walls and colonial houses that have been transformed into workshops and artisanal shops. You will not stop admiring one of the treasures of the city, the Cathedral of Cusco, which has luminous works of art from the 16th,17th and 18th centuries and convents from the Cusqueña School. Finally, we will go to Qoricancha, known as the Inca Temple, which is definitely the synthesis of Andean religion.

Next, we will go to a Picantería, a wellknown local restaurant that cooks varied traditional dishes typical of the Cusco region, while keeping the secrets of traditional cooking, handed down from generation to generation. And you must not miss tasting the very delicious frutillada drink (prepared from corn beer and strawberry), which is the perfect complement to these traditional dishes. After enjoying this unique experience, we will transfer to our hotel to rest.

Day 7: Cusco - International Flight

Flight Cusco – Lima – Home

It’s time to say “Tupananchiskama! According to the Andean culture there is no such word as “Farewell”, instead we use this quechua expression, which means “until we meet again”. At the coordinated time, you will be transferred to the Cusco airport to board your departure flight.
