Lima, City of Kings

After breakfast at the hotel, begin to unearth the history of Lima named as the City of Kings. We will visit and see iconic places rich in history, from picturesque colonial houses, exquisite architecture to the best museum in the city which exhibits a fascinating collection of Pre-Columbian art.

Historical Center & Larcomar

Then, we go to the center area of Lima where we will visit the Monastery of San Francisco, one of the most important religious and cultural places, known for its Catacombs that served as a cemetery in colonial time. Along our tour we will have a panoramic view of the colonial monuments, highlighting, the Main Square, the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Cathedral and others. Next, we will stroll through Larcomar, the heart of the Miraflores district.

Flight to Puerto Maldonado. Embark on a Boat to the Rainforest Amazon

We will pick you up from your hotel to go to the airport and take the domestic flight to Puerto Maldonado. After, the plane lands, the journey begins with a 45-minutes boat ride to the lodge of your choice, the staff will welcome you and give you the necessary information you will need during your stay.

Rainforest Introduction

Then, please settle into your cabin and enjoy the property. After lunch, entertain yourself into the rainforest with a hike along the trail system of the lodge surrounded by impressive, giant trees and lush vegetation. It is said that jungle wakes up when sunset begins because lots of species of animals got adapted to the shadows such as: owls, capybaras, nightjars and even caimans hidden in the river banks, you will get a fantastic interpretation of it. Enjoy dinner and rest for your next day’s adventure.

Adventure in the Jungle

Sandoval Lake Exploration

This morning, embark a wooden canoe and paddle through the Sandoval Lake, a shimmering mirror of water inhabited by several species of animals, there is a big opportunity to see birds, howler monkeys, turtles, caimans, giant otters (endangered). After navigating through its waters, we return to our lodge for lunch.

Canopy Walkway Experience

In the afternoon, climb the Canopy Walkway, with a height of 344 meters (1,135 feet) with a panoramic view of the Amazon rainforest from the top of the trees. As we descend, we continue with a 30-minute walk through the trail to be able to see more species of animals. Time for dinner and relax in our lodge.

Discover the Mysteries of the Amazon

Today be wake up by the sound of the Amazon, have breakfast and then go by boat to Chacra Gamitana to see and taste exotic and seasonal fruits grown by local farmers.

Wildlife & Cultural Discovery

After, walk through a trail that will take us to a creek inhabited by turtles, caimans, piranhas and more colorful birds. We return to our lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon we will navigate to Hacienda Concepcion where in old times was the most important area to produce cocoa and extract rubber. Today, it has more than 200 different species of plants and we will learn about their uses and benefits.

Nocturnal Adventure

At night, walk through the trails of the lodge to perceive the movements and sounds of nocturnal animals that appear under the moonlight.

Flight to Cusco. Transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas

Enjoy your last day surrounded by nature, at the coordinated time, embark the boat to leave the lodge and go to the airport of Puerto Maldonado to take your domestic flight to Cusco.

Chinchero Textile Experience

Upon arrival in Cusco, you will be transferred by your private guide to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. En route, we will make a stop in Chinchero, known as the Land of the Rainbow, where you will observe the weaving and dyeing of textiles, the local people maintain their ancestral customs and traditions. Enjoy the picturesque panorama along the route before you arrive to the hotel. Have a good rest and recover energy for the next day.

Explore the Inca Constructions Made in the 15th Century

The Sacred Valley is waiting for us! And today, we will visit the salt mines of Maras, millenary salt, its pools are filled with salty water that comes out from the subsoil obtaining salt crystals by evaporation; this system is used by locals who take the final product to different markets.

Moray & Ollantaytambo

Then, we pass through Maras town, popular for its pretty blue doorways. We reach Moray a natural depression, the Incas took advantage of the shape of the mountain to build concentric terraces creating different microclimates, they carried out cultivation experiments at different elevations making it a very advanced agricultural laboratory for its time. After, we take lunch at a local farm to enjoy flavors of the area.

We continue to Ollantaytambo, it is a typical example of urban planning that the Incas made 500 years ago, it was an administrative, social, economic and religious center. Walk through its cobblestone streets, visit the archaeological site, climb to the highest part to have an impressive view of the town. After immersing ourselves in history we go to our hotel to rest.

Hike the Short Inca Trail to Machupicchu

This adventure begins with an early morning pick up from your hotel to head to Ollantaytambo and board the train for a scenic journey to Km 104 located at 2000 meters (6,561 feet) where the Inka trail express begins.

Inca Trail Experience

The first site we encounter will be Chachabamba, used as a control point to the Machupicchu Citadel, as we ascend we will be able to contemplate the surrounding mountains, the Urubamba River, and archaeological sites. We continue with our hike until we reach Wiñaywayna (Eternally Young) another archeological site built into a steep hillside, here we will learn the importance of its functions during the Inca times.

Sun Gate Arrival

Then, it is time for our box lunch in the area. Then, we continue walking along the trail covered with orchids, fern trees, bromeliads until we reach Inti Punku or the Sun Gate, from this point we can have the first breathtaking view of Machupicchu and be delighted by its splendor. We will descend towards the Citadel to have a better view and finish our hike, then we head to the bus station, therefore to the town of Aguas Calientes to check- in at our hotel.

Discover the Lost City of the Incas. Return to Cusco City

Today is the most important day of your journey! Early in the morning, we board the bus that will take you to one of the 7 wonders of the Modern World, Machupicchu, considered a masterpiece of Inca engineering and architecture.

Machupicchu Exploration

Not only does it contribute to the cultural legacy, but it also has a natural beauty. With your private guide you will dive into the history that surrounds this magical place, walking through its terraces, squares and temples. If you feel adventurous take the optional hike to the Huaynapicchu mountain, you will have incredible panoramic views. Take in consideration to climb this mountain, you must reserve your entrance tickets in advance.

Return Journey

It is time to return to the town of Aguas Calientes, stroll through its streets, and board the train back to Ollantaytambo. We will be transferred to our hotel in Cusco.

Stand Up Paddle or Kayak in the Piuray Lagoon. Transfer to Cusco

On this day, we headed to Chinchero where the Piuray Lagoon is located surrounded by stunning mountains. Piuray is the great scenario to have fun in calm waters in high Andes and enjoy the serenity of the environment.

Water Activities & Lunch

Get a safety talk and instruction and time to paddle or kayak. After, the great ride it is time to engage our senses of taste and smell with a tasty lunch. It is time to return to our hotel in Cusco for a well-deserved break.

Visit the Imperial City and Surroundings

Cusco city, the capital of the Inca Empire place where the Andean elite once lived, currently World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO. We start our guided tour in Sacsayhuaman, construction made with gigantic blocks of stone prodigiously fitted, located on the outskirts of downtown.

City Tour Highlights

Then, we return to the city to walk through its streets full of history. Visit the charming neighborhood of San Blas, known as the district of artisans, characterized by its narrow streets. On the way, you will see the famous stone of 12 angles which belongs to an old incan – palace. Take a picture at the famous stone of the 12 angles.

Historical & Cultural Sites

Stroll through the Plaza de Armas and stop at the Cathedral of Cusco, which preserves the best expressions of colonial gold work and a precious collection of canvases of the Cusco School of Art. Explore the most important Inca temple from the 15th century, built in honor to the Sun God, “Qoricancha” and mingle with locals in the emblematic San Pedro Market, where you can see, taste and learn about Peruvian cuisine.

Free afternoon to rest and explore the city by your own. At the end of your tour, your guide will give you options of restaurants where you can have lunch, shop or visit museums according to your personal interests.

Depart Cusco to Lima – Flight Home Via Lima

After visiting Cusco, it is time to say goodbye to your private guide. At the coordinated time, you will be transferred to the airport to board your domestic flight to Lima, and then home.
